Commisson Pieces 3D Printed Topography Map Hand Painted – Small to Large

We all have a special place we hold dear. A holiday from childhood, a mountain trek we're proud of, a view we remember. That’s why Chapel Prints is now offering the chance to own a 3d printed topology map of pretty much any place that’s special to you.
When you commission a map; give us a key location, the general area you wish to see rendered as a 3D model, we’ll design it, print it, paint it, and send it to your door.
These maps are 3D printed in PLA, then primed or hand in a naturalistic style, the various sizes we offer range from small (15cm square) to large (45cm square). All our maps have their relief (z-axis) exaggerated, usually multiple by 3, 5, or 7.5 times, this allows the geological features to stand out in all their glory.
It’s wise to message us before placing an order as we need a few details beyond just a place name for the map. We also like to run the digital model past you before printing begins, we only print upon the Etsy order being confirmed.
We find our small-sized maps - 15 cm squared - work well for single large features like small islands (St Kilda, Ailsa Craig), while the larger multiple-piece maps are great for regions and landmarks with the surrounding context. We use multiple databases to create the maps, sometimes highly detailed maps can be created which include individual houses (see the Scalby Mills, Flamborough maps), other times this isn't possible - we'll discuss what's possible for your commission before the order is placed.
Our maps start at £50, this gets you a small map great for a desktop or shelve. Framing is optional for the single-piece maps but needed to set the larger multiple-piece maps.
Commission turnaround time is 1-2 weeks. There are occasionally locations that do not have good topographical data meaning a map can’t be produced. If a print can’t be agreed upon after 3-4 renders the commission will be rejected. We look forward to exploring and printing maps from around the world with you!
