3D Printed Replica Skulls
From the first bony fish to the monkey in the tree.
3D printers using both PLA and resin can make some of the highest quality skull replicas. This technique is better suited than plaster or resin casting methods for producing detailed skull replicas. What’s more they’re based on digital models - thanks to large copyright free libraries a plethora of skull types are available.
We have a large collection of specimen skulls for UK species and stock around 40 types of skull replicas in our shop. All are finished to the same high quality printed at a layer height of 0.1mm. It’s an amazing thing to compare a hedgehog skull to a seal skull and see the similarities. We have a few examples below.
If you have a skull request which we don’t yet stock, you can commission a species via our quote page.
The Common Seal is protected under conservation laws and their skulls are rare to find. This is one of our largest replica skull offerings. includes both the cranium and jaw. When holding this skull you can see how seals can pack a powerful bite, their teeth designed for hunting a wide variety of sea creatures.
Seal Skull
Some of our more intricate skulls are printed in two parts, the herring gull replica is such an example. The delicate jugal or zygomatic bone which defines the base of the cranium below the eye socket is often broken or fractured in bird skull specimens found in the wild. Seeing the skull in person, it is amazing how the cranium extends and runs into the beak.

Fox Skull
We have a couple of fox skulls in our collection. One of which was a singular find; the specimen was found in a disused den, the side of which had been eroded by a stream. Although, parts of the body were missing the large skull was completely intact with a full set of teeth. There's a magic in crossing paths with a living fox in the countryside, at least with this replica skull there’s less sadness knowing where it came from.
Roe Deer Skull
Deer skulls are some of the most familiar taxidermy items used in decoration. Most real skulls are a byproduct of culls, where land-mangers order a quoter of deer to be shot. Our replica is from a copyright-free model available online. Unlike most replicas ours is painted by hand to look as life-like as possible. our model only includes the cranium, but the characteristic antlers of the male are present.
